MONTE VISTA -- Several San Luis Valley Rural Electric Cooperative (SLVREC) members have been contacted by scammers trying to commit credit card fraud. The callers tell members their electric bill is past due and unless a credit card number is provided immediately, crews will be dispatched to disconnect the member's electric power.

Monte Vistan sought in Pueblo carjacking

VALLEY -- Local authorities are searching for a man from Monte Vista in conjunction with a carjacking Tuesday morning in Pueblo.
David Marquez, 44, of Monte Vista, is wanted on kidnapping and robbery charges, according to the Pueblo Police Department, which has enlisted the assistance of San Luis Valley law enforcement to locate Marquez.
Marquez had not yet been apprehended
