DENVER -- Timothy John Vanderwerff, 65, of Monte Vista was recently sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge John L. Kane to serve 108 months (nine years) in federal prison for receipt of child pornography, U.S. Attorney John Walsh and FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge Thomas Ravenelle announced.

MONTE VISTA--The Monte Vista School Board agreed to set aside an amount up to $90,000 to help pay for an all-weather track during their May 7 meeting.
A group of concerned citizens have organized a committee to work toward finishing the sports complex and track. Those projects were not completed during the BEST project in the district.
