MONTE VISTA — Monte Vista Band Parents'Association would like to help efforts to recycle and earn cash at the same time. Recycle empty inkjet cartridges, empty laser cartridges, used cell phones, digital cameras, laptops, iPods, PDAs/Palm Pilots, video games and video game consoles. This is a year-round fund-raiser and with almost everyone having a home printer, there is a lot of opportunity to help out the Band Parents and Mother Earth. All these items can be sent with any child to school and given to the band directors, dropped off at Southern Colorado Computer Services, located at 157 Adams Street, Monte Vista or you can call Myrna at 852-2209 if you need them picked up.

MONTE VISTA — The Veterans History Center at Homelake will be open extended hours through December and into the new year. Regular hours are Tuesday from 9-11:45 p.m. and 1-3:45 p.m. The new hours will be 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesdays; Thursdays from 1-3:30 p.m.; and the second fourth and fifth Mondays of December from 1:30-3:30 p.m., as well as by special appointment, scheduled by calling the main office at 852-5118.

MONTE VISTA - The Monte Marketplace is back for another season. It will take place the first Friday and Saturday of each month through March. On Fridays, it is open from 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays it is open from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Admission is free and vendors only pay $20 for the whole weekend. First time vendors get first month free. MONTE VISTA - The Monte Vista Rotary Club is coordinating the DVDs 4 Vets program locally and is encouraging residents to gather up new and used DVDs suitable for wounded or ill military veterans. The Rotarians will then package them up and send them off for distribution to hospitals and nursing homes for the entertainment of our nation's veterans.
