VAIL — On April 19-21, 36 Sargent FBLA members traveled to Vail to attend the Colorado FBLA State Leadership Conference. Hope Rheingans and Raleigh Burt were part of the 2008-09 state officer team that lead the state with pride and excellence throughout the year.
Burt was selected to be the 2009-2010 Colorado FBLA President.
All Sargent students in attendance were recognized for receiving their business achievement awards at four levels: future, business, leader and America.
During the three-day conference, students heard speakers, attended walks to benefit the March of Dimes and the FBLA Colorado Relief Fund, attended workshops and competed in more than 70 events.
At the awards ceremony, Sargent winners were:
• American Enterprise Project-Bekah Hathaway and Mary Kelloff-4th place
• Business Plan-Katlin Hornig-3rd
• Computer Problem Solving-Marc Posorske-2nd
• Desktop Publishing—Salvador Martinez Lopez and Zoe Rierson-4th
• FBLA Principals and Procedures—Trudy Rheingans-5th
• Local Chapter Annual Business Report—Madison Miner and Anna Rooney-5th
• Management Information Systems—Haydn Christensen and Anna Rooney-4th
• Networking Concepts—Rafe Paulson-3rd
• Partnership with Business—Hope Rheingans and Jessie Haugen-2nd
• Public Speaking II-Kyanna Gibson-5th
• Who’s Who in FBLA—Representing Colorado at the National Leadership conference, Hope Rheingans.
From June 9-12, all the state officers met in Breckenridge for an intense training provided by TRI Leadership. Students from across the state in seven CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organizations) also attended. Savannah Schlaufman from Alamosa High School was selected to be the District 8 Vice president for the coming year and also attended the training in Breckenridge.
Representing Sargent at the National Leadership Conference in June were Raleigh Burt, Kyanna Gibson, Rafe Paulson, Marc Posorske, Hope Rheingans, Trudy Rheingans and advisor, Sharon Adams.
They traveled with the Colorado delegation to Anaheim, Calif., to attend the Institute for Leaders, hear speakers and attend workshops, as well as enjoy Disneyland from June 23-29.
At the local level, the Sargent FBLA honored their 2008-09 FBLA officers, members who completed their business achievement awards and awarded some of our senior members with graduation medallions.
Summer FBLA plans include Challenge Colorado activities, participating in the Relay for Life and next year’s officer training.
They all thank the community for all its help and support to FBLA members throughout this school year.
